Flu Vaccinations

Important message to our patients’ over the age of 65 regarding flu vaccines;

Our delivery of flu vaccines for patients who are over the age of 65 has been restricted because of a national supply issue. As a result we have now run out of these vaccines, and we will not have our next delivery until the 2nd November.

Therefore we will be unable to offer this vaccine to patients over the age of 65, for the rest of our advertised October clinics. We have scheduled some more flu clinic dates as follows;

For this year’s flu vaccination programme we are offering a series of ‘drop-in’ sessions – however there will be booked appointments for children 2-18 years who are eligible for the nasal flu vaccination.  Once we know when the nasal vaccinations are available we will invite you to make appointments for your children.

We would appreciate that all eligible patients attend one of flu the clinics listed below – there is no need to contact the Surgery to advise us which clinic you will be coming to.  If you have difficulty with mobility or general attendance, please contact Reception to arrange an appointment.  If the District Nurses currently see you at home, they will be able to administer your vaccine there.

Eligibility:  Everyone aged 65 or over is entitled to this vaccination (eg: DOB on or before 31/03/1954) as well as anyone under the age of 65 who has a diagnosis of: diabetes, heart or kidney disease, chronic respiratory problems, asplenia and lowered immunity.  Pregnant women are eligible for the vaccination and also all children who are aged 2 and 3 years old on 1.9.2018 (eg: DOB 01/09/2014 – 31/08/2016).  Children born between 1/9/2008 and 31/8/2014 will receive their vaccination at school unless they are in an “at risk” group.  We will write to any children who are “at risk” and eligible to have their vaccination here at the surgery.

Parking:  We would appreciate your co-operation with regards to parking.  If at all possible please leave your car at home or share transport.  Staff will be parking off-site for the duration of flu clinics and we would appreciate if you could avoid parking in ‘No Gains’ road if possible – if you do park there please be careful not to obstruct entrances to properties.
