Mounjaro (Tirzepatide) Who can get it on the NHS?

Mounjaro is a medication designed for managing type 2 diabetes and is now available on the NHS — but only for patients who meet certain clinical criteria.

You may be eligible if you:
  • Are over 18.
  • Have a BMI of 40+ or 37.5+ if from a black, Asian or other background.
  • Have 4 or more weight related health conditions (e.g. type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, sleep apnea, heart disease).
It is initially being prescribed by specialist hospital clinics and will be rolled out to GP's soon - but only for people who meet the above criteria. It is not available for general weight loss or cosmetic reasons, even if your willing to pay privately.
