Non-urgent advice: How to order a repeat prescription
If you take medications on a regular basis you will usually have a repeat prescription on your medical records. This means you can order your medications when you need it, without having to see a GP every time.
Please note; it could take up to 7 working days for us to process your prescriptions
There are 4 ways you can order your prescriptions:
- Via the NHS App or Patient Access.
- Phoning our prescriptions line on 01386 561143.
- In person.
- By emailing us on hwicb.abbottswood_prescriptions@nhs.net.
We have a handy drop off box in our foyer where patients can pop their precription into. all you need to do is tick the items you require and drop it into the box it is that simple.
Non-urgent advice: Home Delivery Service
Our home delivery service is available for patients who find it difficult to get into the surgery or may be housebound due to an illness. If you are eligible you will be asked to sign a delivery agreement, once this has been signed we will inform you of your start date. You must be at home to take delivery of your medications and we are unable to leave it elsewhere.

Non-urgent advice: Prescription Vending Machine
(This service is for dispensing patients only)
We have a prescription automated vending machine at Abbottswood Medical Centre.
To use this service it is essential your mobile number is up to date as you will receive an SMS text message with a code to access the vending machine and collect your medication.
You have three days to collect your prescriptions and will receive a reminder on the second day.
Benefits to using this service are: It is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days of the year. You collect when it's convenient for you. Parking is free and easy by the Prescription Collection Point. No more queuing to collect your prescriptions.
Please note some items are not suitable for the vending machine. Some examples are: Some Controlled Drugs - these are locked in the Dispensary. Fridge items and other bulky prescriptions like nutritional drinks, large dressings and catheters.
